History of Electronic Cigarettes
Year 2003: Hon Lik, 52 year old pharmacist from Peking, China creates the first ever electronic cigarette. The creation process was motivated by the death of Hon Lik's father, who passing away due to lung cancer. Company "Golden Dragon Holdings", where Hon Lik was employed upgrades his creation and changes it's name to "Ruyan" ("like smoke" in Chinese);
April, 2006: e-cigarettes are introduced to European market;
Year 2006-2007: e-cigarettes are introduced to the market of United States of America.

The initial e-cigarettes were produced longer in length of the device and resembled traditional tobacco cigarettes fitted in the mouthpiece. Due to fast-paced technological progress, modern e-cigarettes are equal to traditional tobacco cigarettes in size, although taking the needs of e-cigarette users in consideration, manufacturers continued to produce larger e-cigarette models featuring significantly greater battery capacity than their predecessors.
E-cigarette Working Principle
In terms of working principle, e-cigarettes are very similar to inhalators. E-cigarette atomizer heats up the e-liquid, which turns to vapor in high temperature and the vapor is inhaled by the e-cigarette user. As well as by smoking traditional cigarette, by vaping e-cigarette user's body ingests a dose of nicotine. The vapor produced by e-cigarettes closely resembles the smoke of traditional tobacco cigarettes, although it is much more pleasant in terms of smell and is free of many carcinogens found in tobacco cigarettes. The process of inhaling and exhaling the vapor produced by e-cigarettes is reffered to as vaping and results in satisfaction of physical and psychological cravings of the vaper.
E-cigarette Types and Structure
Modern e-cigarettes can be grouped into 4 main categories regarding their structure complexity and required user skill: POD/Capsule/Cartridge Systems, Starter Kits, Advanced User Kits, Expert User Kits:
1. POD/Capsule/Cartridge Systems: usually contain only two interchangeable parts - e-liquid filled POD/Capsule/Cartridge with integrated heating element and built-in rechargeable battery. These systems are the best choice for smokers looking for an opportunity to switch to e-cigarettes due to the simplicity of use and maintenance.
2. Starter Kits: very simple in terms of structure and are usually all-in-one type devices (rechargeable battery with built-in atomizer). They are simple to use and easy to maintain.
3. Advanced Kits: more complex in terms of structure than POD Systems and Starter Kits. This type of e-cigarettes demands more skill about vaping and electronics, due to a variety of interchangeable components and settings (i.e. wattage, resistance, temperature, etc.).
4. Expert Kits: much more complex in terms of structure, use and maintenance than any other type of e-cigarettes. In order to efficiently use this type of e-cigarette kit, user must posses extensive knowledge about vaping, electronics and the laws of physics. This type of e-cigarettes can easily be customized according to user's preferences (i.e. interchangeable batteries, rebuildable atomizers, high power range, etc.). NOTE: this type of e-cigarettes is designed only for expert users! Innapropriate use due to lack of knowledge may result in equipment damage or even pose health related risks!
